Avoid Leaking Your E-Cigarette

Leaks, or drips, are common in e-cigarettes and can be caused by several factors. Here are some tips to prevent this problem as well as the types of damage that can occur due to mechanical stress, such as shock or pressure in a pocket.

Common causes and solutions to prevent leaks

Improper assembly or worn seals : The silicone seals on clearomizers wear out over time, which can cause leaks. To avoid this, check the condition of the seals regularly and replace them if necessary. Also avoid overtightening the tank, as excessive pressure can also damage the seals.

Adjusting the PG/VG ratio : E-liquids with a high ratio of propylene glycol (PG) are more fluid and can promote dripping. For sub-ohm clearomizers, a higher VG ratio (such as 70/30) is preferable to limit leaks, while a 50/50 balance is suitable for higher resistances.

Shocks and mechanical stresses : Clearomizers can suffer micro-cracks or damage if the device is often in a pocket or bag, especially in the event of excessive pressure. This can weaken the tank and cause leaks. To protect your equipment, use a case and avoid carrying it in tight spaces where it may be subjected to mechanical stress.

Temperature and Altitude : Sudden changes in temperature or altitude can alter the internal pressure of the tank, causing leaks. It is recommended to keep the device in a stable environment, without prolonged exposure to extreme cold or heat.

Regular Cleaning : E-liquid residue can build up on the contacts and inside the tank, increasing the risk of leaks. Regular cleaning of the atomizer and clearomizer helps prevent clogging and ensures proper operation.

By taking these precautions, you can reduce the risk of leaks and protect your device in a lasting way. Using quality accessories and maintaining your equipment well remains essential for optimal and trouble-free vaping.
